It’s Immortal Jelly Time

It’s Immortal Jelly Time

Northern Michigan is finally starting to thaw, and what better way to celebrate than with a berry filled concoction perfect for spring! Making its third appearance on the Starcut seasonal rotation, this cider is more than a little brother Short’s Soft Parade. With its own devoted following, we’re excited for Immortal Jelly to return to store shelves for Starcut lovers near and far!

Immortal Jelly (5.2% ABV)  is a semi-dry Fruit Cider inspired by Short’s Brewing Company’s Soft Parade. Immortal Jelly is fermented with Michigan apples and a blend of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. This cider is rose in color and has scents of tart fruit. Immortal Jelly’s complex blend of berry fruit flavors provides a big tart acidity up front before a semi-dry finish.

Both kegs and six packs are now headed throughout the Great Lakes Region and Colorado!

Find vacation vibes with Erraticus 17

Find vacation vibes with Erraticus 17

Spring is nearly here, and even if you’re not able to take a spring break to a tropical destination we wanted to share this latest Wild Cider to inspire those vacation vibes. Made with local Jonathon apples, we blended them with the romantic passionfruit. The result? A tasty tropical wild treat!

Erraticus 17 is a Dry Wild Cider fermented with passion fruit. Straw in color, the head dissipates quickly but huge aromas of passion fruit, peach, and funk remain. Tropical passion fruit flavors are the star in this cider mingled with hints of peach and tart apple. Erraticus 17 has a light refreshing mouthfeel and finishes funky, tart, and very dry.

Look for a Erraticus 17 now at the Short’s Brewing Company pub, and pick up a bottle to channel that island feeling wherever you are.

Celebrating with White Skies and Elita 2018

Celebrating with White Skies and Elita 2018

This weekend we celebrate another trip around the sun of making delicious ciders here in northern Michigan. In order to mark the occasion, we’re releasing two extra special bottles at the Short’s Brewing Company pub.

White Skies (5.2% ABV)  is a golden colored Semi Dry Perry fermented with Ossia organic yeast and aged in White Oak barrels. Appealing lightly toasted oak aromatics flow pleasantly into moderate fruit and honey flavors. The overall body is light with a minimal amount of acidity.

Elita 2018 (6.4% ABV – TA – 7 g/L) is a blend of Erraticus Elita 2017 and Wild Cider aged in white wine barrels for 19 months. Light straw in color with beautiful clarity, this wild cider has prominent aromas of fruit, oak, and funk. Leading flavors of barnyard funk transform to apple and oak with a slight tropical tartness. Elita 2018 finishes dry and slightly nutty.

White Skies is in 22 oz. bottles, while Elita 2018 is available in 750 mL bottles. Find them both now at Short’s Brewing Company, and toast a cider (or perry) to another bountiful harvest and the delicious beverages that are the result.

Every season is Squishy season

Every season is Squishy season

We’ll admit, when we released our first bottles of Starcut Ciders, it was hard to decide which ciders we wanted to share with the world. We knew we wanted something dry and refreshingly simple, so Pulsar made the cut. Then we wanted something for those seeking the sweeter side of cider, so Octorock became our second flagship. Finally, we added Squishy, a semi-sweet Fruit Cider made with Michigan apples and cherries to the mix as a seasonal to highlight the amazing fruit grown right here in Michigan. Squishy season came and went, but once it was gone we couldn’t help by yearn for this delicious cider. Luckily, you all agreed and the demand for Squishy was clear. We’re excited to announce that for 2018 Squishy will be joining our lineup as a year round flagship!

Squishy (6.3% ABV) is a semi-sweet Fruit Cider fermented with Michigan apples, Northern Michigan Balaton and Montmorency tart cherries, and English Cider yeast. Ruby red in color with appealing sweet aromatics, this cider’s initial flavors of dark fruit shift toward a bold tartness that dries the palate between tastes.

Look for six packs of Squishy to begin hitting store shelves throughout our distribution footprint starting this week and enjoy Squishy season, every season.

Erraticus 16 here to ring in 2018

Erraticus 16 here to ring in 2018

We recently released Erraticus 16, to help us say “so long” to 2017, and welcome 2018! This time, our cider makers decided to use a berry that is basically four berries in one. A cross among the European raspberry, European blackberry, an American dewberry, and a loganberry; the boysenberry is certainly a unique fruit and makes an even more complex cider

Erraticus 16 (6% ABV) is a Dry Wild Cider fermented with Cortland apples and boysenberries. Dark rose in color, this cider carries bright inviting aromas of berries and apple. Boysenberry flavors are prominent, but balanced by the apples with a slight funk. Erraticus 16 is refreshing and crisp with a dry finish.

Ring in the new year with a cider in hand and pick up a bottle of Erraticus 16 at Short’s Mart now!

Introducing our new winter seasonal: Bucket

Introducing our new winter seasonal: Bucket

Once we had a taste of Erraticus 6, we knew something special was happening. The tart black currant and apple flavors blended with the soft oak notes creating a unique beverage we wanted to sip on more than once. As you know (or maybe you don’t but you should), our Erraticus Wild Ciders are a series of one-off ciders allowing for wild, natural fermentation to occur, promising each to be one of a kind. Since we couldn’t recreate the exact magic of Erraticus 6, we decided to do the next best thing; allow this cider to inspire our master cider maker, Tony, to create a new seasonal release reminiscent of Erraticus 6 for those cold winter months. Enter: Bucket.

Bucket (6% ABV) is a Semi-Dry Fruit Cider fermented with black currants and aged on oak chips. Deep crimson red in color with a shimmering light pink head, this cider carries aromas of tart fruit and vanilla. Apple and black currant flavors blend well and balance the acidity and sweetness for a clean and dry finish.

This seasonal cider will be making its way to stores and taps near you throughout our distribution footprint (MI, IL, IN, OH, WI, CO) over the next couple of weeks. Find some Bucket in your neck of the woods, and #PickCider to keep you warm this winter.

Is it a wine? Or cider? Or the best of both?

Is it a wine? Or cider? Or the best of both?

Just in time for the holidays, we have the perfect Wild Cider to add to your celebrations. Although it’s not simply a cider, this time we’ve added some Cayuga White grapes to the blend making this crafted wild beverage part cider and part wine. Is it a Win-der? Or maybe it’s a C-ine? Either way, we’re loving the resulting flavor of this combination.

Erraticus 15 is a Wild Cider made with Rhode Island Greening apples and Cayuga White grapes from Torch Lake Cellars. Straw in color and slightly hazy, this cider has aromas of apple and white wine. Leading with tart flavors of apple, grape, and some funk, Erraticus 15 is reminiscent of a funkier Dry Riesling.

Now available exclusively at the Short’s Brewing Company pub and Short’s Mart in Bellaire, pick up a 750 mL bottle of this delicious drink before it’s gone!

Pulsar cans are here!

Pulsar cans are here!

Pulsar (6.4% ABV)  is a semi-dry Modern Cider fermented with Michigan apples and Pinot Noir yeast. Golden in color, Pulsar has soft fruit and white wine-like aromas. Mildly acidic, this cider has a bright and tangy sweetness that dries the palate before a clean and crisp finish.

So this winter season get out there are enjoy the wild outdoors with a can of Pulsar in hand. Don’t fret though if you’re dreaming of hot summer days with can of crisp cider in your favorite koozie, because these cans are here for the long haul.
